Florida State S Derwin James declares for NFL Draft, will skip bowl game

Florida State safety Derwin James has decided to forgo his last two years of eligibility and enter the NFL Draft. James also announced he will skip the Seminoles’ bowl game, the Walk-Ons Independence Bowl on December 27 vs. Southern Miss.

James made the announcement via an Instagram post:

During the 2017 season, James amassed 84 total tackles, one sack, and 2 interceptions. He was named First Team All-ACC and a semifinalist for the Jim Thorpe Award, awarded annually to the top defensive back in college football. James is projected as an early first round selection, including being ranked #3 on ESPN’s Mel Kiper Jr.’s latest Big Board.
